Lumpiang Shanghai: Crispy Party Rolls for Every Gathering

You’ll know they’re perfect when the bubbles form on the wrapper and the dipping sauce goes suspiciously fast.

Ingredients

  • 500 g ground pork (or chicken)
  • 1 small onion, minced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, finely minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Spring roll wrappers
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Mix meat, onion, garlic, carrot, soy, egg, salt, and pepper.
  2. Wrap 1–2 tbsp filling in each wrapper; seal with water.
  3. Fry in medium oil until crisp and golden. Drain well.
  4. Serve with sweet chili sauce or banana ketchup.

Best enjoyed with hot rice and shared with family.
