Halo-Halo: The Ultimate Summer Treat in a Glass

Every spoonful is a surprise: a sweet bean here, a stripe of ube there, milk soaking into cold ice. It’s Filipino summer in a tall glass.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups shaved ice
  • 1 cup sweetened saba bananas
  • 1 cup sweetened red beans
  • 1 cup sweetened jackfruit
  • 1 cup nata de coco / kaong
  • 1 cup gulaman (jelly cubes)
  • 1 cup ube halaya
  • Evaporated milk to drizzle
  • Leche flan slices, pinipig, and ice cream for topping

Instructions

  1. In tall glasses, layer fruits, beans, and jellies.
  2. Pack with shaved ice. Add ube halaya and leche flan.
  3. Drizzle generously with evaporated milk; top with pinipig and ice cream. Mix before eating.

Serving Tip

Best enjoyed with hot rice and shared with family.
